Can I view a family member's health record in MyChart?

Yes you can. This is called proxy access and allows a parent (or guardian) to log into their own personal MyChart account, and then connect to information regarding their family member or child. Proxy access is important for a variety of reasons. Minor children, under the age of 15, are not legally allowed to view their medical information online. Accordingly, a parent or guardian must use proxy privileges to view the child’s record via MyChart.

  • If your child is under the age of 15, you can be granted full access to your child’s MyChart record
  • If your child is between the ages of 15 and 18, you can be granted restricted access to your child’s MyChart record
  • Once your child reaches the age of 18, you will no longer have access to your child’s MyChart record and will need to complete another proxy form to re-establish proxy access

Proxy access is set up once the appropriate forms are completed & submitted to HIMSROI@texashealth.org or mailed to: Health Information Team – Texas Health Resources, 500 E. Border St., Suite 700, Arlington, TX 76010. The forms can also be faxed to (682) 236-7126

Can I ask questions regarding a family member from my MyChart account?

MyChart offers direct access to your personal health record and communicating about another individual's information would be placed in your health record. This information would not appear in the correct health record and could potentially jeopardize medical care.

Can my spouse and I share one MyChart account?

No, due to the sensitive nature of medical information, each adult must sign and submit a Release of Information request and establish their own MyChart account.

How do I check the status of a submitted proxy form?

If you need assistance with an already submitted proxy form, please contact HIMSROI@texashealth.org or call 682-236-7893.

If some of my health information on MyChart is not correct, what should I do?

Your MyChart information comes directly from your electronic medical record at your doctor’s office. If your doctor is a MyChart provider, you can request to have your health issues, allergies, medications or demographic information updated through your MyChart account. A request will be sent to your physician’s clinic and they will discuss your request during your next appointment.

If I send a message to my doctor or nurse, when can I expect a reply?

Expect a response within 3 business days. Please note that MyChart should not be used for urgent situations. Please contact your medical center if the situation requires immediate attention or dial 911 if it is an emergency.

Am I able to print from MyChart?

If you are connected to a printer, you can print all documents from your MyChart account. If you wish to print your lab results, select the “View Dates as Rows” option which will move the dates of your results over to the side where they will be viewed as rows instead of columns. This will allow all your results to be included when they are printed.
